KLO leader Tom Adikari arrested
Siliguri Police Commissioner Jagmohan said the West Bengal Police on Sunday made a major breakthrough by arresting Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO)'s second in command Tom Adikari and outfit's self-styled finance minister Manchalal Singha from Naxalbari region in the Indo-Nepal Border border.
Jagmohan said Adikari is the key suspect behind the Dec 26 planting of a cycle bomb in which six people were killed in Jalpaiguri town in north Bengal.
Jagmohan said a Special Operation Group (SOG) laid a trap at Lichubagan area near Panitanki under the Naxalbari Police Station and successfully arrested Adikari and
Singha around 1330 hours on Sunday.
The police also seized a motor cycle and 50 sim cards from them.
Adikari, alias Joydeb Roy had been illusive for nearly one and half decades and is the vice-president of the KLO.
The seeks independent state for Rajbanshis in north Bengal.
Adikari is next to KLO chairman Jeevan Singha, who is believe to have been hiding either in Nepal or in Myanmar.
The duo will be produced before a court on Monday.
