BJP ready for fresh polls in Delhi
A day after Arvind Kejriwal resigned as the Delhi Chief Minister, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said it is read for fresh polls in the national capital.
"We are prepared for fresh Delhi elections. Kejriwal has left people of Delhi for national aspirations. But it will be Narendra Modi who will take India to a new level after the Lok Sabha polls," said senior BJP leader Harsh Vardhan.
Pertinently, Harsh Vardhan was BJP's chief ministerial candidate in the recently held Delhi Assembly elections.
Meanwhile, as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo resigned as Delhi Chief Minister, the Congress said he was seeking for an excuse to run away from his responsibilities.
"Kejriwal is a negative person and a liar. He talks big but actually he was looking for an excuse to run away," sad Congress spokesperson and former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit's son Sandeep Dikshit.
"His resignation was well-anticipated as he was never serious about running the government," he said.
Hours after the AAP government-backed Jan Lokpal Bill was not tabled in the Delhi Assembly, Kejriwal resigned on Friday after remaining in power for 49 days.
