Radio Mirchi to host MMA Bengali

Kolkata, Feb 8 : Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM is all geared up for the third edition of Mirchi Music Award Bengali to be held soon, which is considered to be a prestigious award show in Bengal that celebrates the best in Bengal music.
With the some of the greatest names in the industry on the judges panel and live acts that will dazzle, the Mirchi Music Awards Bangla will felicitate Purna Das Baul with Lifetime Achievement Award and Jeet Ganguly will be embraced for bringing mainstream music to homes for more than a decade and also for their immense contribution to Bengali music.
The Mirchi Music Award (MMA), will present the awards, selecting from more than 3200 Bengali songs and 37 judges.
Purna Das Baul have taken the folk music of Bengal and given it a global recognition and has successfully taken the music from the heart of Bengal to the world stage and given music the momentum.
While Jeet Ganguly's contribution is also considered to be significant, as he almost single handedly wooed the Bengali Music lovers back to mainstream cinema by once again by making it popular and bringing back to its glory days.
Tapas Sen, Chief Programming Officer, said, "The award will include lots of category like - best album, best music, best lyrics, best composer, best song in both male and female category."
Sen added, "There will be an award for Rabindra Sangeet also. The entire process of judging will be done in secret ballot conducted by renowned audit firm Ernst and Young. Besides, the regular award category, there will be a category for Listeners Choice where the voting will be conducted by Radio Mirchi itself."
He said, "The 'Music ko Music ka Salaam', is our mantra. This award ceremony is being hosted in Mumbai since the past six years, then in South which included Malayalam, Kannada and Telegu films. Last year, we launched this award for Marathi film."

At the same time we are scaling up the platform for making it the biggest award ceremony in this region," said Madhuri Bhosle, Senior Vice President and Cluster Head East.
Out of 17 dignitaries present at the event, Grand Jury Member Usha Uthup said, "I am very much happy to be a part of Mirchi Music Award Bangla jury as this is the most exhaustive and fool - proof award show. It is definitely the most prestigious one in this part of the country. May the most deserving win."
Arati Mukherjee, another distinguished member of the Grand Jury, added. "I am thrilled to be a part of The Mirchi Music Award Bangla this time. Just because of Mirchi Music Award Bangla, she became very much inclined and was being able to enjoy new music with which I was out of touch for some time."
The Final Mirchi Music Award Bangla, will be held on Feb 21 at the Science City Auditorium.
