2G scam row: Manmohan Singh to meet Chidambaram over lunch

By Sitesh Dwivedi, New Delhi, Sep.28 : The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, is meeting Union Home Minister P.Chidambaram during a lunch hosted for former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

They are likely to discuss the current fallout of the 2G telecom scam.

Minister of State in the Prime Minister''s Office V.Narayanasamy is also expected to be present at the meeting.

Sources were quoted as saying that after lunch, the Prime Minister, Narayanasamy and Chidambaram would discus the present scenario emerging from the 2G scam developments.

Though the Prime Minister has strongly defended Chidambaram, some sources are saying that there is a section within the government and the Congress Party that have a different view on the issue.

Sources in the Congress say that the party will formulate its own response depending on the stand of the court.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherji is also likely to meet the Prime Minister this evening.

The core group of the Congress is also likely to meet this evening on the 2G issue. Congress president Sonia Gandhi is also meeting Law Minister Salman Khurshid. (ANI -Posted on / )
