IIHS takes shape, to build Rs 250 cr campus in Bangalore

Bangalore, Jan 13: The Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), the brain child of top entrepreneurs and professionals including UIDAI Chief Nandan Nilekani, which was launched in January, will build its campus near Kengeri satellite town here, at a cost of Rs 250 crore.

IIHS aims to produce top class urban change making professionals and new generation entrepreneurs. It will be offering four-year Bachelors in Urban Practice and two-year Masters in Urban Practice.

The Institute has been provided with a 58 acre land on the outskirts of the city. While the mother campus would come up here, the total project is expected to cost up to Rs 400 crore.

Briefing news persons, former RBI Deputy Governor Rakesh Mohan, who is one of the board members of the institute, said the mother campus would occupy 58 acres of land with a built-up of roughly half a million square feet of building. Work on planning the first phase of the campus had started.

''We hope to produce graduates and post graduates who are good in diverse disciplines like governance, technology, law, infrastructure, architecture and other allied fields of urban development,'' he said. (UNI -Posted on / )
