Pallamraju unveils Mother Teresa statue

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Jun 12 : Union Minister of State for Defence M M Pallamraju today unveiled the statue of Mother Teresa in 27 division in Suryanarayanapuram area here today.

Complimenting the Mahatma Welfare Association organisers for installing the statue, he called upon the people to strive for serving the poor and needy emulating Mother Teresa.

He said, though the government was implementing several welfare programmes for the poor, women, children and aged people, it is not able to derive the expected results owing to meagre resources and population explosion.

Pallamraju advised voluntary organisations to involve themselves in taking up community welfare programmes as government alone would not be able to do justice.

Later, Mr Pallamraju inaugurated a free medical camp.

Camp organiser Jyothula Ramu said 500 people were being screened for various ailments by doctors. Free medicines were also being given. (UNI -Posted on / )
