Kolkata remembers Mother Teresa on her 101 birthday
At the Mother House on Lower Circular Road a mass prayer presided by Coadjutor archbishop Thomas D'Souza was held where the sisters of the Missionaries and many children took part.
After the prayers the inmates of Shishu Bhavan sung in the glory of God and later the archbishop and Superior General Sister Prema and former general Sister Nirmala held a peace prayer before the Mother's tomb with lighted candles.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also paid floral tributes to a portrait of Mother at the Writers' Buildings.
Kolkata Police Commissioner R K Pachnanda visited the Mother House and offered floral tributes at Mother Teresa's tomb.
West Bengal Trinamool Congress Minority Cell also celebrated the day at the base of Mother Teresa's statue at the crossing of Park street and Camac street.
Party's minority cell president Idris Ali, state TC president and PWD Minister Subrata Bakshi and city Mayor Sovan Chatterjee paid their respects to the Mother. (UNI -Posted on / )
