Bets on vacation travel market sees 3-fold rise in biz turnover

Hyderabad, Jun 27 : Pricol Travel, part of the Rs 1500 crore Coimbatore based Pricol Group which has forayed into cruise cum leisure segment, today announced the launch of a CruiseBay lounge in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, the sixth such interactive lounge in the country.

The company will also add eight new uber luxury properties under the Tamara brand in the form of boutique hotels, wilderness lodges and luxury villas in different locations in South India, including Rameshwaram, Tanjore and Ootacamund.

''Focus will be on places of historical interest, hill stations, forest corridors and beaches, all which would make for ideal family getaways''.

The company expects a three-fold rise in its turnover from Rs 100 crore to 300 crore with a slew of organiz and inorganic strategic initiatives like acquisition in the next two years, Vikram Mohan, Director Pricol Travel said.

The company which entered leisure segment in Y2008 had posted Rs 3 crore incomme in Y2009-10 and expects another Rs 5 crore in the current fiscal. The company is awaiting the Union Government's policy with plans for dedicated Cruising Terminals at Mumbai, Goa, Tuticoruin, Mangalore and Kochi on PPP models. The policy also contemplates river cruising over Mandovi-Zuari, Bramhaputra and Hooghly routes targetting one lakh passengers by 2020.

Director of CruiseBay Nikhil Thakurdas said alliance with CruiseBay with bigger cruise fleets, more new sailing destinations will attract 1000s of new cruise vacationers in its customer portfolio. Currently, over 70,000 Indian opt for cruise vactions annually and this number is expected to grow. (UNI -Posted on / )
