Archbishop condoles Farook's death

Kochi, Jan 27 : Syro-Malabar Major Archbishop Mar George Alencherry, who has been elevated to the status of Cardinal, today condoled the death of Kerala Governor M O H Farook.

In a condolence message, the Archbishop said that as the Chief Minister of Puducherry, Union Minister, Parliamentarian and Governor he was a great politician who loved India deeply and served sincerely.

He will be remembered as an ideal role model for secularism and love and respect for all religions.

'Even though he could be able to serve only a short period as the Governor, through my personal relationship with him, I could understand that he could be able to take a strong stand for the integrity and security of the country.' he said in his message.

The 75-year-old leader died on Thursday night at a private hospital in Chennai due to multiple myeloma - a cancer of plasma cells.

A seven-day state mourning had been declared in Kerala. (UNI)
