Deadlock continues over invitation to Seer

Udupi, Karnataka, Jan 17: The deadlock over issue of denial of Invitation by Sode Seer to Puttige Seer for the "Paryaya" ceremony continued with both the Seers of Puttige and Pejavar mutts continuing their fast.

No amicable settlement could be reached even after the daylong effort made by Sri Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji, who incidentaly is one of the two seers who is on fast.

Speaking to newspersons after his daylong efforts, the Pejavar pontiff said he had offered a compromise formula before the fasting Sri Sugunendra Thirtha Swamiji of Puttige Mutt and incoming Sri Vishwavallabha Thirtha Swamiji of Sode Vadiraja Mutt which they both did not agree.

''I regret that my efforts have failed to yield any positive result and hence decided to stop to compromise as both the faction of both the groups are not agreeable,'' he said.

He said he, however, would again speak to the Sode seer on the issue so that the Paryaya ceremony slated for tomorrow will conducted in cordial and smooth manner. (UNI)
