Kerala's annual plan fixed at Rs 14,010 cr

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 12 : Kerala today finalised a plan outlay of Rs 14,010 crore for its annual plan for 2012-13, representing an increase of 27.02 per cent over previous year's target.

The plan outlay, finalised at a full Planning Board meeting presided by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here, lays thrust on agriculture, education, health care, power generation and infrastructure development.

Briefing newspersons after the meeting, the Chief Minister said there would be a hundred per cent increase in the allocation of agriculture sector in order to promote vegetable cultivation in a big way. The allocation for health care would also register a 77 per cent growth as compared to the previous year.

Stating that the fund utilisation by the local bodies during this year was not satisfactory, he said the government proposed to implement a five-year plan model for local bodies also with an objective of empowering them to utilise the entire allocation through proper planning.

The state's 12th five year plan size was Rs 1,05,000 crore, he said, adding the next Cabinet would hold a detail discussion for obtaining the maximum central assistance for various developmental projects in the state. (UNI)
