Rupee ends steady at 44.97 per USD
Mumbai, Jun 24 : The Rupee closed at 44.97, nearly steady today, falling slightly by one paisa against the Dollar on improving demand for the greenback from importers, dealers at the Interbank Foreign Exchange said.
Declining by 12 paise in last two days, the domestic unit improved by two paise in the opening trade. Finally, it finished at 44.97 from its previous close.
A minor fluctuation was seen in the Rupee as it recorded the day's high and low at 44.98 and 44.95 per US Dollar respectively.
Though the equity market rallied, the local unit remained under pressure following Dollars gain against the other currencies.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the Reference rate at Rs 44.94 against the dollar, up by one paisa from the previous rate of Rs 44.93.
The Reference rate of Euro was fixed at 64.09, down by 12 paise from its yesterday's rate of 64.21.
The Pound was registered at 71.8928 (72.0879) and Yen at 55.83 (55.86), a RBI release said. (UNI -Posted on / )
