Minister Acharya denies about his intention to step down

Udupi, Jan 10 : Karnataka Minister for Higher Education Dr V S Acharya today denied reports appearing in a section of the press that he had decided to quit the ministry following intensified internal rift in the ruling BJP in Karnataka.

Addressing a press conference here, he said he had never taken any decision to quit the ministry over internal bickering of the party.

When aksed about his health which was said to be the reason for his not continuing in the cabinet, Dr Acharya clarified that he is taking treatment which had shown improvement. Quoting several instances, he said even several other Ministers whose health condition gone worsen have later recovered and continued in the ministry.

Even some newspapers had published concocted story bringing bad reputation on his public life against him and his family members saying that he and his family members were favoured by Udupi Power Company Limited (UPCL) in setting up a hospital in Hyderabad by his doctor son. 'These are all planted and baseless stories.

Let them show a single instance where I have taken money or land by anybody," he challenged.

Warning against the newspaper which had published story against him and his family members, Dr Acharya said that if the newspaper failed to publish apology, the should ready to face consequences. (UNI)
