Belgaum to host 2-day International Kite Festival from Jan 15

Panaji, Jan 9 : More than 62,000 kite flyers from India and abroad are expected to participate in the two-day second International Kite Festival, to be held at Belgaum in Karnataka from Janaury 15.

Talking to reporters here today, the event co-ordinator Chaitanya Kulkarni said that the event has been organized by Parivarthan Pariwar Belgaum. This year, skilled and professional kite flyers from India and foreign countries viz Turkey, Ukraine, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Lebanon, Lithuenia, Italy, Singapore, Malaysia, Holland, South Africa, Thailand, Cambodia, South Korea, Austria, Mozambique and Germany have confirmed participation.

While, the domestic teams from Mangalore, Bengaluru, Chamrajpeth, Mysore, Doddaballapur, Tamil Nadu and Belgaum will participate in the event.

He said that the Belgaum International Kite Festival is recognised as one of the standard International Kite Festival and is recognised by American Kite Flyers (AKF) and former American Kiting Champion Mr Phil Border will be present at the event.

Mr Kulkarni further said that their main aim is to make Belgaum an international tourist destination and to provide a platform for all the cross section of the trade, business and industries to increase their brand value.

A special food festival and an exhibition centre with more than 200 stalls with specialized items has been planned at the venue, he added. (UNI)
