Seer begins 3-day fast against power project

Udupi, Jan 9 : Udupi Pejavar math seer Sri Vishwesha Thirtha today began his three-day fast to protest against dropping of two environmantalists from the expert committee set up to study the environmental effects of the thermal plant near here.

He is protesting against the government's move saying that "it was wrong on part of the government to drop T V Ramachandra and Y B Ramakrishna from the panel as it anticipated adverse reports from them." Before beginning his fast at Sri Durgaparameshwari temple here, he told reporters that the government should immediately reconsider its decision and reinstate the two dropped experts.

''It is very unfortunate that the two experts suggested by me were dropped from the committee without my notice that too when the committee was drafting its report,'' the seer said. (UNI)
