Maoists kill tribal on charge of spying

Bhubaneswar, Jan 7 : Maoists Saturday killed a tribal in Odisha's Koraput district, accusing him of spying on them for police, an official said.

The murder took place in a forested area under Bandhugaon police station, over 500 km from Bhubaneswar.

The middle-aged tribal was killed when he was on his way home, a senior district police official told IANS.

Villagers came across the body with its throat slit. The rebels left a leaflet nearby, claiming that the man was a spy for the local police, the official said.

Left wing extremists are active in more than half of Odisha and Koraput district is one of their strongholds. (IANS -Posted on / )
