Dharwad, Jan 5 : The Karnataka University has received Rs 50 Crore special grant from the University Grants Commission for undertaking infrastructure development and promote research, University Vice Chancellor Dr H B Walikar said today.
Addressing a press conference here, he said that the Karnataka University has been considered as one of the best and prestigious institutions for its performance and the grant has been given for its excellence in academic achievements. The grant would be utilized for the next five years period.
He said that already special projects have been planned by the University and the grant has given a new impetus for further growth academically.
This grant has come after a team of experts from UGC visited this university and was satisfied with the excellent performance.
He said the University has taken action to fill backlog vacancies and proposal has been placed before the Government for approval to recruit 204 posts that have remained vacant. (UNI)
