6 held for hoisting Pakistan National Flag

Bijapur, Karnataka, Jan 4: Police have arrested six youths in connection with hoisting Pakistan national flag at Tehasildar office premises at Sindagi town on the new year day.

Talking to reporters here today, District Superintendent of Police D C Rajappa along with in-charge Deputy Commissioner Kashinath Pawar said the arrested were identified as Rakesh Sidramaiah Math(19), Mallanagouda Vijaykumar Patil(18), Parashuram Ashok Waghmore(20), Rohit Eshwar Navi(18), Sunil Madiwalappa Agasar(18) and Anilkumar Sriram Solankar(18), all belonging to Sindagi town and students of various colleges.

He said seven youths planned the act and out of seven six were arrested.

One Arun Waghmore was absconding. All of them were office bearers of Sri Ram Sena's student wing.

Following the incident, there was widespread protest and a total bandh was observed in Sindagi town demanding arrest of the culprits.

Mr Rajappa said the arrested have confessed to have indulged in the act. They said the Pakistan flag was made ready in the house of Sunil Agasar and the task was completed very systemically.

Later, in the wee hours of morning of January 1 they gathered in the premises and assembled the people for witnessing the scene. They also agreed that further they started pelting stones on the buses.

''The motive behind this act is yet to be investigated,'' he said, announcing a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for the team for arresting them. (UNI)
