Congress will capture power in next Assembly polls

Gulbarga, Jan 4 : All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary V Hanumanth Rao today said the party will return to power in Karnataka in the next Assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the ruling BJP government is entangled with corruption charges with many ministers going to jail and returning on bail.

Stating that mid-term poll in Karnataka cannot be ruled out, Mr Rao, who is also AICC observer for Karnataka, said Congress is ready to face elections any time.

He said this time Congress would announce the list of candidates one month earlier to election unlike in previous times of announcing the list at the last moment.

''People of Karnataka have become frustrated over the functioning of the BJP and they want Congress to return to the power for overall development of the state,'' he added.

He said Congress selects the candidates on three main criteria--character, popularity and contribution to the party and society.

Mr Rao ruled out possibility of change in Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president. (UNI)
