Mysore attracts huge number of tourists for new year

Mysore, Jan 1 : This 'City of Palaces' has witnessed a record turn-out of tourists who have descended on Mysore to enjoy their Christmas Holiday's or a week-end New Year eve visit.

All roads seem to converge in Mysore as tourists have begun to arrive in large numbers from across the country.

Most hotels in the city registered 100 per cent occupancy the whole week. The guest houses and other places in the district was a complete sell out till January first week.

Information from the key players in the hospitality sector have confirmed cent per cent occupancy till the New Year, which may sound like music to the ears of stakeholders in the tourism sector.

Even the budget category hotels that cater to domestic tourists have reported full occupancy.

Statistics available from the Mysore Palace Board indicate that the number of tourists who visited the city between January and December 2011 has crossed the three million mark for the second consecutive year.

While Mysore received 3.14 million tourists for the first time in 2010, it received 3.20 million tourists between January and December 30, 2011. (UNI)
