KIMS to open 2nd hospital in Kochi

Kochi, Jun 23 : Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), a leading healthcare providers in the state will open its second hospital in the business city of Kochi with an investment of Rs 30 crore.

Informing this at a news conference KIMS Chairman and Managing Director Dr M I Sahadulla said ''the KIMS group has been in the forefront in pioneering the concept of quality health care at affordable costs.'' The KIMS Hospital and Surgical Centre (KHSC), would be a 125 bed multi specialty hospital and the object of his group was to deliver top class health care in line with the Group Philosophy of Quality, Team work m patient safety and transparency.

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy would inaugurate the hospital here on June 26, in which state and Union Ministers and other prominent personalities would take part, he said.

The KIMS Kochi would have full-fledged departments of General Medicine, Cardiology, Critical Care, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Nephrology, Urology, Surgery, ENT, Cosmetic and plastic surgery, Dentistry, Obsterics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Physiogheraphy and Nutrition and Dietetics, he said adding that the specialty of the hospital would be knee replacement unit.

Pointing out that the state has good potential for Medical Tourism, he said KIMS was all geared up to cater the needs of the international patients.

Following the footprints of its flag ship hospital at Thiruvananthapuram, KIMS Kochi has immediate plans to work towards international and national quality accreditations, Dr Sahadulla said, adding the hospital would soon be expanding into a much bigger tertiary care referral centre.
