Rupee ends lower by four paise at 44.88 per USD

Mumbai, Jun 22:The Rupee slipped by four paise at 44.88, against the Dollar today on rising demand for Dollars from importers, dealers at the Interbank Foreign Exchange said.

The domestic unit increased by two paise in the opening trade due to positive trend in the share market.

Finally, it went in red, to close negative at 44.88, fell by four paise from its yesterday's close.

A minor oscillation was seen in the Rupee as it registered the day's high and low at 44.89 and 44.82 per US Dollar respectively.

The Rupee declined today following Dollar's gain against other currencies and weak equity market also put the pressure on it, dealer added.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the Reference rate at Rs 44.82 against the dollar, down by nine paise from the previous rate of Rs 44.91.

The Reference rate of Euro was fixed at 64.58, up by 10 paise from its previous rate of 64.48.

The Pound was registered at 72.8370 (72.8957) and Yen at 55.85 (56.00). (UNI -Posted on / )
