LIC earns Rs 6,542 cr profit from stock market in April-Oct

New Delhi, Dec 16: India's largest insurer, Life Insurance Corporation, earned Rs 6,542.72 crore profit from investments of Rs 21,294.80 crore in stock market in the first seven months of the current financial year, government informed Parliament today.

Earnings of the state-owned insurer from the equity market were Rs 17,055.36 crore from investments of Rs 43,213.60 crore in 2010-11, Rs 9,432.25 crore from investments of Rs 61,398.13 crore in 2009-10, and Rs 2,591.18 crore from investments of Rs 40,459.68 in 2008-09, Minister of State for Finance Namo Narain Meena said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
