Cadbury's Naomi Campbell ad 'not racist', rules UK's advertising watchdog

New York, June 21 : Britain's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has refused to take action against Kraft Foods'' chocolate making division for the alleged racist ad of Cadbury Bliss featuring Naomi Campbell.

The authority has deemed the advertisement as 'not racist' and said that it did not intervene in matters of 'poor taste', reports the New York Post.

In a written response, the ASA ruled the ad was "likely to be understood to refer to Naomi Campbell''s reputation for ''diva-style'' behavior rather than her race. On this basis the council decided that the ad was unlikely to be seen as racist or to cause serious or widespread offence."

The ad had sparked major outrage with its tagline saying, 'move over Naomi, there''s a new diva in town,' among the blacks and Campbell had demanded an apology from the company for comparing her with a chocolate. (ANI -Posted on / )
