Hyderabad, Aug 24 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today claimed
the State Government had taken several measures for the welfare of the people and overall
development of the State.
The government had taken up several schemes, including Aarogyasri Health
Insurance, National Rural Employment Guarantee, construction of houses, distribution of
pension and irrigation projects to improve the living condition of the poor in the State,
a release said here quoting Dr Reddy.
The government also wavied electricity arrears of farmers and provided seven-hour
free power supply to the farm sector.
Blaming the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for criticising the government on
various welfare schemes, he alleged the party's intention was to create obstacles in the
implementation of the schemes and projects.
Under Jalayagnam (irrigation initiative), the government had provided irrigation
facilities to 15 lakh acre of land in the State.
It also decided to provide the facility to another 15 lakh acre of land before
March next.
He also alleged the previous TDP Regime had neglected agricultural sector by not
implementing any projects.
