Obama-backing Oprah won't invite Sarah Palin for interview before election
New York, September 6 : Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has made it clear that she will
not have Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin on her show before the
election.
Having pledged her support to Democrat Barack Obama, she has now decided not to have
any candidates or their families on her show before November 4.
Winfrey's statement follows a report that she balked at hosting Palin.
"I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her
on after the campaign is over," the New York Daily News her as saying.
"There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show," she
added.
Winfrey has already had Obama on her show twice, both times before the Senator
announced that he was running for the White House.
"At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take
my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show
as a platform for any of the candidates," she added.
Since Palin was announced as Senator John McCain's running mate, the message board at
Winfrey's women-oriented website has been active with messages from followers seemingly
happy a woman had gotten the nod, alongside the usual political rhetoric.
