Centre announces financial incentives on Akshay Urja Diwas
Panchkula (Haryana), Aug 20 : The Central Government today announced a fresh set of
financial incentives for youth promoting the use of solar energy.
Participating at a Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas function here, Minister of State for
Renewable Energy, Vilas Muttemwar said that presently there are 140 manufacturing units
manufacturing water heater equipment in the country.
"The biggest solar thermal general project of 10 mega watt is being set up in Nagpur
and a Special Economic Zone having industries making non-conventional energy products is
also coming up in Nagpur," he added.
This mass awareness campaign on renewable energy is organised every year on the birth
anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The function is organised under the
sponsorship of Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the Haryana Renewable Energy
Development Agency (HAREDA), Government of Haryana.
